Stop worrying about your sleeping position
Stop worrying so much about what position you’re sleeping in.
I get asked all the time:
“What pillow should I buy?”
“What kind of mattress should I get?”
“Is it bad to sleep on my stomach?”
“Am I supposed to sleep on my back?”
But in reality, Who controls what position they're in while they're sleeping? Not many people.
Unless you’re strapped to your bed, you wake up in all sorts of crazy positions.
And that's okay.
Now, I’m not saying there aren’t any positions you SHOULDN’T sleep in, but your body should be able to adapt to most normal sleeping positions.
Think about a cat.
They can curl up into a little pretzel, stretch themselves out, twist around, sleep in some absolutely ridiculous position - and then get up and move like nothing happened.
That's what I want for your body.
Strong when it needs to be strong.
Soft when it needs to be soft.
Relaxed when it needs to relax.
And able to adapt when things change.
So instead of obsessing over finding the perfect pillow, mattress, or sleeping position, I’d rather help you build a body that can handle a lot of different positions.
Rolfing is one way to work on that. Strength training, mobility work, yoga, sports, bodywork - there are a million ways to take care of your body and have a body that’s adaptable.
So remember, the goal isn't to find the perfect position.
It's to have a body that doesn't need one. (mic drop)
